I know I need to look after myself, and my colleagues should be ok as they have loads of staff in, but I still can't shake the feeling of guilt.

Heck a lot of people call in sick even when they aren't sick. You shouldn't feel guilty at all. I am sorry I just really wanted to get this off my chest, and I am sorry if you've ever been to work where someone calls in sick and you are short staffed. Let your boss know about your illness as soon as possible. And it is, considering how much we worry about it.
